Building the Sr-88 Rydberg control stack

Notes from the Strontium-88 Rydberg digital simulator project at HKUST—middleware, calibration support, and lessons learned.

In Prof. Gyu-Boong Jo’s lab, I helped build the control software for a Strontium-88 Rydberg digital quantum simulator. The lab needed a reliable bridge from designed sequences to pulses the hardware could execute.

We leaned on Qiskit to describe and manage sequences, then routed them through middleware tailored to the neutral-atom setup. Alongside the control layer, I provided simulation support to check calibration steps and visualize lattice configurations.

The work ran from June 2023 to January 2024 and formed the foundation for the team’s later Rydberg experiments.
